Although the checkerboard pattern is quite old, it wasn't until the 1950s that it was used as a graphic fashion statement and given a contemporary interpretation. This iconic pattern of Op Art fashion is one of the typical retro designs aesthetically associated with the 1950s and 60s.
The sweater vest found its way into the fashion world via sportswear. This sleeveless version of the sweater provides warmth without restricting freedom of movement during athletic activities and was therefore a popular choice for golf, cricket, and horseback riding in the 1920s to 1940s; it embodied the gentlemanly sporty look. The sweater vest experienced a surge in popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. For some time now, it has been enjoying a revival as a true layering marvel – from preppy to high fashion.
The striking checkerboard pattern gives the vest a trendy look without losing its nostalgic touch. A sophisticated, subtle knit structure adds depth to the two-tone pattern. Wide, rustic ribbed cuffs at the V-neck and armholes create bold accents and ensure the style remains casual – without any stuffiness.
Merino wool ensures an optimal body climate, as it warms in cold weather, cools in hot weather, and is breathable and odor-neutralizing. The fine fibers are exceptionally soft and pleasant against the skin – completely itch-free.

Merino extrafine is softer and finer than regular sheep's wool. As a natural performance fiber, it protects against temperature fluctuations and has odor-inhibiting properties.

MATERIAL & CARE INSTRUCTIONS
100% virgin wool (Merino)
Turn inside out and wash on the wool cycle at 30°C with similar colors or separately. Reshape while damp before drying. Dry flat. Iron on a low setting .
