TOM RIPLEY ON KLASSIK RADIO

As part of the Klassik Radio Spezial series, the presenter spoke with Wolfgang Müller, CEO of TOM RIPLEY, about the philosophy of the label, which promises more than just fashion. It's a homage to style, storytelling, and the desire to rediscover the value of clothing.

TOM RIPLEY – named after the legendary fictional character – represents an aesthetic that is deeply rooted in the elegant world of the 1950s, but at the same time is consciously interpreted in a modern way.

TOM RIPLEY – Fashion inspired by film classics and the aesthetics of the 50s

The name "Tom Ripley" is no coincidence. The two iconic film adaptations of the fascinating novel, released in 1960 and 1999, have shaped the fashion sense of an entire generation.

"Clothing plays a key role in these films," says Wolfgang Müller. "It not only underscores Ripley's chameleon-like character, but also the Italian spirit and lightness of the 1950s."

TOM RIPLEY wants to revive this atmosphere as a label – without falling into nostalgia.

Photoshoot 2026: Tom Ripley's summer collection on the Amalfi Coast

To mark the 2024 black-and-white series “Ripley,” the 2026 summer collection will be shot in a special location: Atrani, a dreamy coastal town on the Amalfi Coast.

"This setting is tailor-made for our label," explains Müller. "Steep stairs, narrow alleys, pebble beaches—a true Ripley setting." The images created there are meant to not only showcase fashion, but also convey a sense of life.

Retro meets modern: How TOM RIPLEY combines 50s style with contemporary design

A key feature of the brand is the combination of nostalgic looks and contemporary sophistication.

"We want to capture the look of the 1950s at first glance," says Müller. "But never look like a disguise." The modern twist comes from materials, color accents, and details. The cut, feel, and comfort are consistently geared to today's needs – without losing the charm of the original.

Sustainable men's fashion from Italy: craftsmanship and quality at TOM RIPLEY

TOM RIPLEY produces exclusively in Italian family businesses, with a clear commitment to quality and sustainability.

"Our fabrics are made of cotton, wool, silk, and linen—hardly any synthetics. We want to convey a subtle sense of luxury—this is reflected in the material, the workmanship, and the design," Müller emphasizes.

This combination of ambition, origin, and reduction forms the heart of the brand – and defines what TOM RIPLEY understands as “quality.”

Who is Tom Ripley made for?

The typical TOM RIPLEY customer is style-conscious, independent, and quality-oriented. They wear fashion not for self-expression, but as an expression of their inner attitude.

“Our collection is for everyone who identifies with the Ripley lifestyle: people who recognize quality, pay attention to craftsmanship, and have a feel for the special,” says Müller.

Knitted polo fashion trend: The retro look from TOM RIPLEY

Current trends reflect precisely what TOM RIPLEY has always embodied. "The knit polo is experiencing a real revival," says Müller. "Once difficult to sell, today it's more in demand than ever – in versions with two, three, or a full-length button placket, made of cotton or ice cotton, a natural functional material that's cool and looks sophisticated." It's fashion that references the past – while simultaneously resonating with the present.

Why TOM RIPLEY is more than a fashion label – a statement for style and attitude to life

TOM RIPLEY stands for fashion with depth: retro-inspired, but not backward-looking. Clear in design, honest in production, uncompromising in quality.

With its combination of Italian craftsmanship, cinematic inspiration, and sustainable commitment, the label strikes a chord with a generation that no longer wants to consume but wants to make conscious choices.

TOM RIPLEY isn't a trend. It's a way of life.
